ABSTRACT
The astronomy program at the University of North Texas is designed to teach the scientific method to traditionally non-science students. As part of this effort a study was conducted to establish any correlation of the growth of long leaf pine trees (Pinus Palustris Mill.) and the solar cycle for trees collected from various locations inside the United States. Examinations to determine correlations were made for 1 year, 11 year, 22 year, and 90 year cycles in order to look for correlations with the various known Solar Cycles. The correlation method utilized was the linear Pearson correlation coefficient.
