The Sea-Surface Temperature Project

The Sea-Surface Temperature Project is important for many reasons.  First, what the goal of this project is intending to do is to see if there is a correlation between the solar cycle and sea-surface temperatures.  If this connection exists it can help scientists predict what annual changes in the sea-surface temperature will be.  Once this can be done, it has been demonstrated that the sea-surface temperature is the driving force behind the El-Nino and La-Nina weather patterns that cause problems all over the globe.  Better prediction means more advance notice and the more that can be done to limit the problems caused by this bad weather.
